Wing Ridge Ski Tours Backcountry Avalanche Safety Course

       2008 course scheduled for January 10 - 13 (Thursday through Sunday)

The 2008 course begins January 10 at the U.S. Forest Service Visitor Center in Enterprise, Oregon. On-snow field sessions use the Wing Ridge Hut (7200' elev.). Alpine bowls and open glades are close at hand. The ski hut is well-equipped and you will be served excellent meals with opportunities to relax in the sauna at day's end. You may choose to stay a 3rd night and enjoy an extra day of skiing.

The cost is $325.00 per person. Includes tuition, most meals, and lodging.

Wing Ridge Ski Tours offers Level I and Level II courses designed for winter backcountry recreationists. Enrollment is limited to 10 students. The courses are
3 - 5 days in length with one full day in a classroom and two full days of field work.

Students stay in backcountry huts and work together in small groups during the field sessions. Course emphasis is on risk management and group dynamics in addition to the traditional focus on terrain, weather, and snowpack.

Course instructors have many years experience in mountain guiding and backcountry snow assessment. You earn a certificate and have ample opportunity to learn and ask questions in a small group setting. Tuition includes meals, lodging, snow study, and safety equipment. You provide your own skis, boots, poles, clothing, and sleeping bags.

These courses are strenuous backcountry trips. Intermediate or better skiing skills are required. Participants must possess a strong fitness level. Advance reservations are required. Payment in full is necessary to confirm your place in the course.

Cancellation policy: Credits or refunds are only granted for personal injuries or family emergencies that occur prior to the trip.

All students must sign a release of liability form in advance. Additional courses may be scheduled by special arrangement with a minimum of 6 students. Discounts are available for students willing to bring shared meals.
